We are seeking a full-time contractor or employee for a Senior Mainframe Developer role with expertise in mainframe development. The ideal candidate should be proficient in COBOL or Natural and have a strong understanding of mainframe systems. This role involves development, architecture, and operational support for mainframe projects, collaborating with IT and business teams to translate requirements, automate processes, and ensure compliance with change control procedures. A reliable work schedule is required, with occasional after-hours work to support operations or complete urgent tasks.
Required Skills:
- Experience as a Mainframe Developer/Programmer Analyst with COBOL or Natural programming.
- Strong background in large-scale, complex mainframe production systems.
- Hands-on experience in design, implementation, and production support of applications.
- Expertise in mainframe development, including COBOL or Natural, TSO/ISPF, JCL, DB2, and VSAM files.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in a global environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to prioritize business impact and urgency.
- Ability to perform application support tasks, such as system support, security reviews, and maintenance.
- Quick adaptability to new technologies and methodologies.
- Experience in creating project documentation, including technical specifications, process workflows, and database record/field specifications.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve incidents and business support items in a mainframe environment.
- Testing experience and familiarity with database management systems like IBM Data Studio and Squirrel.
- Previous experience as a Programmer, Analyst, or Systems Administrator.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with the Texas Workforce Commission.
