We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team as a full-time contractor or employee. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical abilities, technical expertise, and experience in data engineering, business analysis, and enterprise application development.
Responsibilities:
- Understand business objectives and challenges, identify solutions, and conduct cost-benefit analyses.
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and system limitations to automate processes or enhance existing systems.
- Collaborate with various teams to evaluate current operational procedures, identify inefficiencies, and determine data input, output, and reporting requirements.
- Develop detailed documentation outlining user needs, program functionalities, and required development steps.
- Assess system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling constraints to determine the feasibility of requested modifications.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in J2EE technologies, with a strong working knowledge of JavaScript and JSP.
- Hands-on experience in Front-End/UI Development, including enhancing and maintaining enterprise-grade web applications on the J2EE platform.
- Strong SQL query writing skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
- Experience in application development using Tomcat Server and web services.
- Proven ability to develop comprehensive data validation and quality checks across various stages of data ingestion and processing.
- Experience in technical documentation, including requirements, user training, and operational guidelines.
- Expertise in designing and developing SQL scripts for Snowflake.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience as a system analyst for data analytics, performance management systems, or data warehousing projects.
- Proficiency in technical writing and diagramming, with experience using modeling and mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Erwin) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as MS Project.
- Experience working in an Agile sprint team.
- Proficiency with JIRA software.
- Proven experience in business analysis focusing on TIERS data (CHIP & Medicaid data) for healthcare services.
- Experience integrating Tableau dashboards within web-based applications.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to write well-designed, testable, and efficient code following best software development practices.
- Understanding of security principles and their application to healthcare data.
- Experience with performance metrics, data visualization, and business intelligence software components.
- Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and shift between assignments as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in the healthcare industry or working with an HHS agency.
- Experience working with PII or PHI data.
- Functional knowledge or hands-on experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, etc.).
