QA Automation Engineers are responsible for designing automated tests by developing scripts that execute testing functions automatically. This role involves prioritizing test scenarios and creating execution plans for their implementation, as well as crafting documentation for automated processes.
- Perform software quality assurance, testing, and support for various applications, including TIERS, YourTexasBenefits.com, YourTexasBenefits Mobile App, State Portal, Workflow Management, Eligibility Web Services, Enterprise Document Services, Enterprise Content Management, Document Center, Call Center Inquiry, and other Social Services applications.
- Develop, enhance, maintain, and execute both existing and new test plans and scenarios for software quality assurance of various web-based J2EE/Portal applications within HHSC’s Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform, utilizing Agile methodologies.
- Collaborate as a team member in requirements analysis, test design, test data preparation, and testing of various application components as needed.
- Work with other teams as necessary to achieve project goals.
- Create technical and design documentation as required.
- Employ modern testing methods to ensure applications function correctly and without errors.
- Provide technical support for testing and implementation efforts.
- Participate in program design, coding, and test walk-through meetings to contribute insights on technical standards and customer requirements.
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
- Exhibit a solid understanding and experience in fundamental programming and testing concepts within the context of web-based UI applications.
- A degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, computer information systems, engineering, or management information systems is strongly preferred.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in the principles, practices, and techniques of software development and the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including familiarity with industry-standard software engineering practices and lifecycle methodologies (Agile).
- Understanding of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems, information technology equipment, programming languages, hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Experience in analyzing requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, along with writing test plans and test scenarios to ensure that requirements are fulfilled within applications and business processes.
- Ability to analyze software applications, defects, and business challenges to draw evidence-based conclusions and develop innovative solutions.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficient in using tools such as HP Unified Functional Testing (UFT), Katalon, HP LoadRunner, SoapUI, LoadUI, Selenium, HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), HP Product Portfolio Management (PPM), SQL, XML, and in creating and running interface files and batch processes.
- Experience collaborating with diverse levels of development and testing teams, as well as end-users, utilizing Agile principles and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience in software quality assurance (manual and/or automated testing) with tools such as HP Unified Functional Testing (UFT), SoapUI, Selenium, HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), HP Product Portfolio Management (PPM), JIRA, JAMA, and PLSQL.
