The Tax Associate Clerk provides clerical and administrative support to the tax department. This role is responsible for assisting with the preparation and filing of tax documents, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Preparation and Filing:
- Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Organize and maintain tax-related documents, such as receipts, tax forms, and other financial records.
- Ensure that all tax documents are filed correctly and on time.
- Data Entry and Management:
- Input tax-related data into accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Maintain and update databases with accurate and current tax information.
- Reconcile tax records and assist in the resolution of discrepancies.
- Research and Analysis:
- Assist in gathering and organizing information for tax audits.
- Conduct basic research on tax regulations and guidelines as required.
- Provide support in the analysis of tax-related issues and recommend solutions.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Liaise with other departments, such as accounting and finance, to gather necessary information for tax preparation.
- Communicate with external clients or government agencies as needed to obtain or provide tax-related information.
- Coordinate the delivery and receipt of tax-related documents.
- Administrative Support:
- Schedule meetings and appointments for the tax department.
- Manage correspondence, including emails and phone calls, related to tax matters.
- Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably in a tax or accounting department.
- Familiarity with tax forms and procedures is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
